Can't wait for Opening Day....That place is going to be amazing....If you've never been to Spring Training this park will give you an idea about what it's like...Going to be awesome in the summer to sit on the berm and drink a few $2 Adult Beverages on Thirsty Thursdays...

Anyone wanna get some Huddle group thing going this year for a game?

They've been posting pictures of Cheney throughout this process on the rainer's facebook page. I definitely wouldn't mind going to a game this year.

I did say that...HAHA...

Yeah, a Huddle Night at Cheney...We could rent a party deck if it came to it....Food, Beer, etc for $500...If we ALL pitched in a $20 depending on how many we got we'd be able to meet the players, eat, and watch a game in the sunshine....Gosh, there is enough of us to do it!

Shit, if we can't find 25 we can get bleachers for free....But we've got enough people up in here if we plan it well to do it...

I'm down I live a ways away so would have to crash at a nearby hotel or something so I can drink. My only Rainier experience was in 2008 in June. My mom got four box seats so free snacks and beer. Only two beer per purchase. My two friends and myself were in there like every 10 minutes buying two beers. We each had 10 beers.

I remember that being a long way home from Tacoma to Longview. Eventually was dropped off at my friends house where I threw up all over his yard. I'm pretty sure the Rainiers won behind Adam Baldwin who in the program said if he won the lottery he would buy some kick ass cat play pen for his cat Jinxie. I remember very little else from that game.lol.

If I lived in Tacoma I'd go to a ton of games early while Ackley and Pineda are still on the roster. Both probably get the call sometime in May.

Unless Ackley rips up ST same with Pineda they'll start the year in T-Town. See Evan Longoria and Matt Wieters.

In a year that isn't going anywhere why not wait a month to call them up and keep that year of arbitration? Why have them on the opening day roster and start the clock one year earlier?

Unless either of them just destroy ST and even then I still see both starting in Tacoma because of $$$.

Prospect Insider - Projecting the M's Roster

According to Churchill he thinks Pineda makes it but like I was saying yesterday Ackley is a long shot.

"Second Base
Dustin Ackley could blow the M's away, and still not start the year in the big leagues, though it's not completely out of the question that he's the Opening Day second baseman. It's just a real long shot."

This roster he projects looks really really fucking terrible! Like if you live in Tacoma your better off just watching the Rainiers and saving yourself the trip.

Franklin is a Sept. guy for sure...

They've pretty much already penciled in Ackley as an Opening Day 2nd Baseman...They were going to call him up last September but Tacoma went to the AAA Championship Game so they let him end his season when they did....They aren't going to send him to Tacoma after basically forcing him to shut it down when he should've been called up last season....Love when people talk about "THE MONEY" when THEY aren't the one's paying the bills...Who cares? It's not MY checkbook (or your's for that matter)...If you shut a player down then send him back to the minors money doesn't matter in F/A, you screw someone like that it ALWAYS comes back to bite you in the butt...

Pineda is pretty much slated as the #5....They might send him to Tacoma until they NEED a #5 but he'll be up when they do...

Churchill is one of those "Moneyball" geeks who's never picked up a bat in his life....Much like ALL PEOPLE WHO PLAYED in their youth (no "Moneyball" types except for Billy "Not the Gay ONE" Bean) most of never even laced up cleats....Seems like the biggest "Moneyball" types are the ones who were picked last and forced to keep score in the dugout....Most REAL baseball people have no use for them....Basically what they say I LOL at and ask what their favorite Gatoraid was when they were grabbing bats and taping players who actually played...Most of them are the most sorry excuses for "baseball guys" you'd ever have the misfortune of being around...

I'm not saying I would have Ackley in Tacoma. Shoot I want him up just from what I've read all offseason unless he just kills ST and even then he'll start off in Tacoma. Just like Evan Longoria did, Matt Wieters did, etc.

That is the new trend so they can basically get a free year out of Ackley. Why start his arbritation clock now?

As for Pineda if he shows he doesn't have any lingering effects from last years arm troubles he should start the year in the bigs. His situation is different than Ackley's though I recall.

94' from your comments on Money Ball and yesterday with USSmariner why do you hate the Sabermetrics crowd so much? Don't be the bitter old guy who hates change like Bill Krueger, Harold Reynolds and every other ex major league player.

They may have or not played baseball when growing up but their ideas have revolutionized the game. Almost every GM now uses Sabermetrics. If you don't you will be left behind. The way of thinking with your "gut" is stupid anyways. Always go with what gives you the best odds of success. We all remember our hunches that work but what about all the hunches that failed?

I'm assuming nobody on here has ever played professional sports. We often criticize these NFL players like Whitehurst for example despite never playing quarterback or college ball. I wouldn't want someone to dismiss my views if I supported it with evidence because I didn't play college.

If you look back at USSmariner they often are correct in predicting the Mariners moves. They hated the Bedard trade from day one, same with Silva signing as well, Washburn too, etc.

Dude, 33 isn't "old" unless you 10 or a moron...

I was in fucking SABR....Geeks and never been laids is all that were in there....Didn't renew my dues after I left STATS INC. because being at those meetings was like going to a D&D Club....

Some asshat came up with a presentation on:

"Guys who hit over .400 during day games in the month of August"....Fucking seriously....These pasty faced motherfuckers never played so they try to take over the game and make it a geek fest....Thank GOD the NFL won't let their types into the club....We don't want them...

First off...It's not "stupid"....It's worked for oh....Since Doubleday (or Cartwright) invented the game.....More people watched baseball in the PRE-GEEK days, since those fools took over the game the NFL has passed them by light years....

You need to watch what or WHO you call stupid....I probably FORGOT more stuff about sports than most people ever KNEW...Yourself included...

I'm assuming nobody on here has ever played professional sports.

You'd be suprised who lurks on this site and has PMed me....

We often criticize these NFL players like Whitehurst for example despite never playing quarterback or college ball. I wouldn't want someone to dismiss my views if I supported it with evidence because I didn't play college.

Did say shit about "playing college ball"....Said they never played the game PERIOD because they were too busy buying acne creams and "trying to become the Grand Elf" or whatever rank is highest on D&D well all the while jacking off to Hentai porn and wishing they weren't 100lb wimps with pop bottle glasses...

If you look back at USSmariner they often are correct in predicting the Mariners moves. They hated the Bedard trade from day one, same with Silva signing as well, Washburn too, etc.

Could care less who they "were right on"....Washburn turned out good at the end....I hate the Betard move as well...Go back and look at what I said up in here about Betard...I fact I started calling him that the day we made the move for him...

Most of those dudes are like Mel Kiper Jr. a bunch of pasty faced basement dwellers who've only seen a grown woman naked during late night jackoff sessions on scrambled Skinamax trying to be quite because their moms are upstairs....In other words....EPIC FAILS AT LIFE...

Like I said...I've been to SABR meetings and most of them couldn't even outplay a Little Leaguer NOW let alone when they were kids....It's a geekfest and their type is ruining the game....Go to a baseball game, look at all the dorks there....It's a bunch of Steve Bartman look a likes who golf clap and are more worried about WHIP than actually watching the damn game and cheering...They don't believe in "GUT FEELINGS" because the only guts they've ever had is asking if they can have their glasses taken off before they were shoved into lockers by REAL players...

No my arguement is most of them don't understand gameflow and gut feelings BECAUSE they are nerds...They don't get things that you can't find a stat for....Hence they think "clutch" is a myth....
