Update 3:34 p.m.: The Seahawks will reportedly re-sign LB Matt McCoy but LB Will Herring will not be re-sign and is signing with the New Orleans Saints. The Seahaws hava lso signed rookie defensive linemen Pep Levingston, it's seventh-round pick out of LSU.

Update: Despite earlier reports Matt Leinart-to-Seattle was a done deal, word is that Leinart could actually be re-signing with the Houston Texans.

Meanwhile the Seahawks have reportedly signed Robert Gallery. Of course these signings can't be made official until free agency officially begins Friday.

Update: Olindo Mare won't be back with Seattle according ESPN, the 'Hawks now need a kicker.

----Former USC Trojan QB Matt Leinart will be re-united with Pete Carroll as he has agreed to terms with the Seahawks, according to reports.

Leinart is looking for a third-chance, and Carroll calculates Leinart's a talented guy with good USC karma who knows his system, and thus worthy of the 3rd QB roster spot.

So in just two days, the QB situation is solved, or is it?

Tarvaris Jackson should be arriving in Seattle on Wednesday to embark on second chance of his own, but reportedly will have to compete with Charlie Whitehurst for the starting job. Leinart one way or another through injury or through competition could very well find the field in 2011.

The future of the position is not tied to those three athletes, but rather the future of the position is tied to 2012, either through the draft, free-agency or a trade.

Jackson could find himself in a similar position to where he often was in Minnesota, as a starter, whose job security is fragile-without the confidence of knowing he's the guy win or lose.

Sidney Rice is still available and the Seahawks are making an effort to sign the talented veteran wideout, but at this point it is unknown where they are in the process-but they are definitely interested as reported by the NFL network.

The excitement for Tarvaris Jackson or Charlie Whitehurst is just not there, they both will have a lot to prove.

-On the departure of Hasselbeck, his brother Tim, told ESPN Radio "The Seahawks, in a very classy move, Pete Carroll and John Schneider called Matthew and said, 'Listen, we appreciate what you have done for the organization, but we are going to go in a different direction and signing another quarterback.'"
-With the QB spot filled, the Seahawks will now turn their attention into retaining their top free-agent defensive tackle Brandon Mebane. Mebane was at Seahawks HQ on Tuesday working out with teammates and the early word is that his agent is negotiating with the 'Hawks first before other teams and that is taking place right now.

-The Seahawks are reportedly interested in Raiders left guard and free-agent Robert Gallery, according to a report by Yahoo Sports.
