The Seahawks have bolstered their offensive receiving personnel quite a bit since the lockout ended last week. First adding, Sidney Rice, then adding tight end Zach Miller on Wednesday.

Miller can block and has great hands, he caught 60 passes for 685 yards with 5 touchdowns in 15 games for the Raiders in 2010.

The 'Hawks outbid the Raiders for Miller and now will have a Pro Bowl tight end as a target for Tarvaris Jackson. In fact when you break it down, Jackson will have quite a few solid receivers to throw the ball too.

Miller gets $34 million over 5 years, money which obviously was allocated after the team released LB Lofa Tatupu.

Miller could actually see more receptions in Darrell Bevell's offense than he did in the Raiders, and should be a main target for Jackson. We could also see two-tight end sets with John Carlson who isn't too shabby as a starter last season, but is not at the caliber of Miller as a receiver.

Pete Carroll said Wednesday, " They (Carlson and Miller) will play in tandem. They’ll be thrilled with the flexibility.

Credit snatching of Miller away from the Raiders to Tom Cable, who was fired last year as the head coach in Oakland. The Raiders desperately wanted to keep Miller, so there must be a minor victory for Cable knowing that though he is no longer a head coach, but he assisted with an impact move as the Seahawks new offensive line coach.

Cable had this to say about Miller "[He is] a better person than he is a player. So for our team – for this program and what I’ve seen since coming here and kind of the mentality, if you will – it’s extraordinary, and Zach’s going to fit in very well that way.”

-Meanwhile, for those of you worried about the kicking situation, that was taken care of Wednesday afternooon, hopefully.

Jeff Reed has had his ups and downs throughout his NFL career, including an arrest for damaging a paper towel holder and botched field goals at key moments. After missing a 26-yarder against the Patriots on Nov. 10 Reed was released by the Steelers and picked up by the Niners for 10 games.

Over his career Reed is an 82.2% field goal kicker making 213 of 259 attempts.

Reed will officially be competing with Brandon Coutu but rest assured the job is Reed's to lose.

The Seahawks are gambling that some of Carroll's postive thinking vibes rub off on Reed who is known for his eccentric personality.

Carroll remains positive about his roster, he told the media yesterday, per the Seattle Times,

"We're surprised in what we look like right now. We're really pleased with where we are right now — the competitiveness, the athleticism, the skill level — and we're still working."

-Meanwhile the team cut their roster down to 90 players Wednesday evening, those not making the cut are: DT Ladi Ajiboye, K Wes Byrum, G Michael Huey, QB Zac Lee and
LB Blake Sorenson.

Besides the signing of Miller and Reed, the team signed CB Kelly Jennings LB Michael Johnson, RB Chase Reynolds, and DE Jimmy Wilkerson.

-Don't be surprised if you see NBA guard Nate Robinson in Seattle at some point this training camp or season. Carroll invited the guard to Seahawks camp this week via Twitter. Carroll recruited Robinson to play football at USC. Robinson briefly played QB at the University of Washington.
