For those who don't know, every week we here at the Huddle break down a game and predict a winner based on metro city data, sports history, landmarks, celebrities, and other assorted minutiae that has really nothing to do with the game itself....

Basically, if you get a laugh and learn something we've accomplished what we've set out to do!

Enjoy! GO HAWKS! And let's have a great season,
The Huddle Team

Population:
Seattle: 3,344,813 (14th)
St. Louis: 2,871,412 (16th)

Winner: Seattle, and still growing....St. Louis's claim to fame is Lewis and Clark ditched there to come here...

Name:
Seattle: Named after a local Duwamish chief named Sealth. His grave on Bainbridge Island looks at his namesake city.
St. Louis: Named after French King Louis IX who died of the Bubonic Plague during the Crusades.

Winner: Seattle, anyone who dies of the Plague really doesn't win...Do they? Besides America was 200+years from being discovered when ol' Lou kicked the bucket.

Nickname:
Seattle: Emerald City
St. Louis: Gateway City

Winner: Seattle....St. Louis stopped being a "Gateway to the West" after they invented that thing we call a choo choo train..

Sports Teams:
Seattle: Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders
St. Louis: Rams, Cardinals, Blues

Winner: Push, though do the Lambs really count as a "team"?

Sports Teams Lost:
Seattle: 2-Supersonics, Pilots
St. Louis: 9-Browns (Baltimore Orioles), Cardinals (Arizona), Hawks (Atlanta), Bombers (NBA, Folded), Gunners (NFL, Folded), Eagles (NHL, Folded), Maroons (MLB, Moved to Indy), All-Stars (NFL, Folded), Spirits (ABA, Folded).

Winner: Seattle...Though any town that loses a team isn't a "winner", WOW...St. Louis has had 3 NFL Teams move or fold, 2 NBA Teams, 2 MLB teams, an NHL Team, AND an ABA team for good measure..About the only thing they haven't lost is Women's Underwater Checkers....You might be able to add these same Lambs to the toteboard if Los Angeles has it's way.

Championships:
Seattle: 2-Mets won 1917 Stanley Cup, Supersonics won 1979 NBA FInals
St. Louis: 12-Cardinal World Series Championships in 1926, 31, 34, 42, 44, 46, 64, 67, 82, 2006, Rams Superbowl XXXIV, Hawks 1958 NBA Finals

Winner: St. Louis, though they've had baseball since the 1800s.

Notable Landmarks:
Seattle: Space Needle, Columbia Center, EMP
St. Louis: Budweiser Brewery, Gateway Arch

Winner: Seattle, their great "architecture" is half a McDonald's logo and a place where they make crappy domestic swill.

Beer:
Seattle: Pyramid, Redhook, Hale's Ales
St. Louis: Bud----wies----errrrrr

Winner: Seattle...We don't need a bunch of grownup tadpoles, Mr. Ed's, and lizards to make people want our beer.

Cuisine:
Seattle: Raw Oysters, Red Mill Burgers, Salmon, Crab
St. Louis: Spare Ribs

Winner: Seattle, you can get good ribs and so much more here....Putting BBQ sauce on something does not a "cuisine" make....

People:
Seattle: Jimi Hendrix, Bill Gates, Tim Lincecum, Anna Faris, Bob Barker
St. Louis: Linda Blair, Charles Lindberg, Vincent Price, Jack Buck

Winner: St. Louis, though they do get points taken off for also being the home of Joe "My Daddy Got Me This Job" Buck..

Natural Landmarks
Seattle: Mt. Rainier, Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, Cascades
St. Louis: Mississippi River

Winner: Seattle, in St. Louis cornfields are considered "good viewin'"...

Head to Head:
Seattle: 12
St. Louis: 8

Winner: Seattle....BTW when WAS the last time the Lambs actually beat us?

Overall Winner: Seattle 9-2-1, which means nothing but since we are playing the Lambs it means we will win...Proving once again the system never fails, and the numbers never lie....

Enjoy Kickoff Weekend!
