The Cleveland Browns claimed Seahawks offensive lineman Michael Bowie on Sunday, a day after he was designated as waived/injured by Seattle with a shoulder issue that will require surgery and keep him out of action for 4-6 months.
The waived/injured designation made Bowie available to be claimed by other teams with the knowledge that he is injured, but would have allowed the Seahawks to place him on injured reserve had he not been claimed.
Bowie, a seventh-round pick of Seattle in 2013, was expected to compete for the starting right-tackle position with 2014 second-round pick Justin Britt. He started eight games in the regular season and one in the playoffs last season.
Bowie tweeted a farewell message to Seattle on Sunday afternoon:

After reporting to camp out of shape and over weight this might be the way they wanted to get rid of him. Sends a message to other players, if you want to play for the Seahawks better report in shape.
