New NFL overtime rule approved 28-4

I like this change because it will add some more closure to the overtime wins in the playoffs.

I have a feeling this will be applied to the regular season as well.

I like the new rule and adding it to regular season games is fine if it works out in the playoffs.

How do safeties fit in here? They just said two field goals or a touchdown wins which would lead me to believe that you have to have six points to win but that would make a safety useless other than you get the ball back.

Ah I dont know what to think of this new rule yet. I get that they dont want a field goal to decide the game, but that is a key part of the game as well. There are 3 parts to a team: offense, defense, and special teams. If you lose the flip your defense has every opportunity to stop the offense from getting into field goal range. Just like the Cardinals won the game on defense in overtime in the playoffs this last year.
