Because he throws like a girl. Plus he's a Boras client so his salary expectations are way too high. Hopefully he comes to his senses, and signs a cheap, one year try out deal with the Mariners. A 1-4 lineup of Ichiro, Figgins, Damon, Bradley could be fun to watch.
Keith Law says they've agreed on a "multi-year deal".
If he's right and it's more than just a 2 year arb buyout, it's party time.

To me, this falls under the same category as hiring Holmgren as GM. Dungy absolutely was a great coach, but there's nothing that says he'd be equally as great in a front office position.
Who cares if Branyan was a one hit wonder or not. Either way we are losing his offensive production. Whether they hit home runs or a bunch of singles, Bradley and Kotchman will not match the offense Branyan gave us last year.
Yeah, but we lost Beltre, and Branyan. And Kotchman has a career batting average of .269 with gap power so I wouldn't be expecting all that much out of him offensively.
Pretty excited about the Guti extension.
The problem with having no power is that you have to string together 3 or 4 hits to score runs, and besides Ichiro, our team batting average sucked last year. When you are facing top line starters you need a guy who can completely change the game with...
Well, he didn't get in this time, and he's got a long way to go. Bummer.
Oh, and Geoff Baker is an idiot...

Yeah I don't really get this trade at all. The trade itself seems fine as we didn't give up anything of worth, but we don't need a guy like Kotchman. He's average at pretty much everything, and great at nothing. I would have taken Branyan or LaRoche over Kotchman in a heartbeat.
Berry would be nice, but I really hope they take the best available O-Lineman with the 6th pick. It doesn't matter if he turns out to be the future LT or not, our line needs help in a big way.
He definitely deserves to be in, but I'm afraid that too many national voters are buying into the whole DH's shouldn't be inducted argument. Which, in my opinion, is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
