DeMaurice Smith was on the news today. I saw him interviewed about how he plans to lobby for the players and such.

The female interviewing him asked, "What will you give up to help meet in the middle with the owners."

He replied, "We will give up NOTHING."

He wants the owners to open up their finances to the players since they are using the excuse of financial trouble as their defence. He believes that if it is true that they suffer financially, they need to prove it to the players. By doing so they can regulate the players income based on the numbers.

He repeated, "We always hope for peace, but we will prepare for war." when speaking about his mentallity for a new collective barganing agreement.

Soooo, after watching him instead of just reading about him I have come to the conclusion that he will not give up much for the owners. This could be a problem if they plan to extend the season to 18 games as well as adjust the rookie salaries.

I really hope we do not experience a lockout, but his interview did not do anything but show me trouble ahead.

What do yall think?

It is not the players nor the NFLPA that need to adjust rookie salaries, it is the owners.

If I were DeMaurice, I would not give up anything without the owners being transparent. It is fair.
