Steve Largent and Walter Jones- two names that enter my mind when the talk of All-Time Seahawks greats enter the talk of the NFL Greatest to Play.

Largent was one of the best receivers to play the game until a man by the name of Jerry Rice retired. Prior to Rice Largent held the record in most touchdown receptions. He also held the record in most consecutive games a with a reception, most yards on receptions, most seasons with 50 or more receptions and most seasons with 1,000 or more yards.

Despite those accolades Largent was left off of the NFL’s Top 100 Greatest Players in which Rice was No. 1. Michael Irvin came in at No. 92 and maybe cause of the rings he had took the spot over Largent. Randy Moss came in 65th, but he plays in a more pass heavy game. When you factor in Largent’s accomplishments during his span there’s no reason he should have been left off of the list. Largent made the hall of fame in his first time on the ballot, yet he was left off of the list.

In fact no Seahawk made the list. Not even Walter Jones. Largent’s success leaves me questioning how he was left off of the list.

Prior to his retirement no receiver held six-records. Sure they got broken, but a wise man once said “records were meant to be broken.” How does a player like Irvin who retired with only two records, while Largent had six. The players weren’t ranked on just playoff records or else Moss wouldn’t have been on the list. Largent made more Pro Bowls than Irvin did and made the 1980 All-Decade team just like Irvin made the 1990 All-Decade team.

Of course Irvin deserved the recognition, but not over Largent. Largent didn’t have a Hall of Fame quarterback like Irvin did or a Hall of Fame Running Back. Largent was the Seahawks passing offense and yet still put the numbers up.

Jones just retired, yet is a future first-time ballot Hall of Famer at the tackle position. Sure the tackles that made the list are Hall of Famers, but as Michael Strahan called Jones in his book “the greatest left tackle to ever play the game”. To be left off of the list because you’re not in the Hall of Fame yet is a snub.

Both shouldn't be on the list...There are a few that didn't make it that had WAAAAAY better careers...

In fact the list was way to '80s-current heavy...So many of the old players who didn't make the list..
