Should the Seahawks win out, and the Lions lose their final two games, this team which began 2-6 are in the playoffs. It's not out of the realm of possibilities as the Lions face the Chargers and then the Packers.

The other way the Seahawks could sneak into the playoffs is by winning out and if the Falcons lose their final two games, the Bears win their finals two games.

As possible as those scenarios are, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses fame writes for ESPN's The Life that he's wishing for a miracle to happen and a Seahawks playoff berth.

McKagan writes, "This NFL season has been a real "head scratcher" for sure. For instance, my own beloved Seattle Seahawks came out of the gates this year like scared fawns in a forest fire. No offense. No real quarterback to speak of. No spark.......our defense has been very, very good this year -- and that has been enough for them to go 5-1 in their past six games."

-In Week 1 49ers QB Alex Smith needed just 15 passes out of 20 attempts for 146 yards for his team to come away with the win-thanks in part to a bad effort on special teams by the Seahawks. Smith isn't going to blow anyone out of the water-but coach Jim Harbaugh said this week that Smith is the team's quarterback of the future. Which some, who aren't sold on Smith, might interpret as a good thing for NFC West opponents

-The Pete Carroll "what's your deal" feud with Jim Harbaugh was probably over played in Week 1, and not as much this week. Carroll had high praise for the 49ers on Tuesday, though he didn't really mentioned Harbaugh by name a lot.

"I'm exciting that we've got these guys coming in," Carroll said. "All of the elements that make a good football team ,they're taking care of business. The turnover thing is the best in the NFL. They're committed to running the football, they play terrific defense and they're really good on special teams."

"They brought to life the talent that was there. Their football is clean and sharp. They're pretty conservative, they take care of the ball magnificently."
