The Seahawks are in their bye week, like it or not.
Yes, they can use the extra time to heal up – especially the injuries to quarterback Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral), cornerback Marcus Trufant (back), linebacker Leroy Hill (hamstring), tight end Zach Miller (neck), running back Marshawn Lynch (ankle) and even assistant head coach/offensive line coach Tom Cable, who had recent back surgery. But yes, they’re also riding the momentum gained from their emotional victory over the Giants on Sunday – a 36-25 upset in the Meadowlands.
“We don’t really have much of a choice, so I don’t see the reason to even make a judgment call on that,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday when asked if this was a good week for the bye.
“It’s here and I’m glad we won and we’re feeling pretty good about that. We need the break right now. We have a bunch of guys that need this rest, coaches included. If they want to throw another (bye) in there about six weeks from now, it’d be a good thing.”
The team has two practices scheduled this week before the players are off from Thursday through Sunday. The first is today at 11:45 a.m. There’s also one slated for tomorrow, starting at 10:45 a.m.
