As Lofa Tatupu surveyed the Seahawks’ 35th Anniversary team, he raised his eyebrows a couple of times and then broke into a smile.
“I’m just honored to be named amongst these guys,” the team’s middle linebacker said, as he sat in one of the recliners in the locker room.
Tatupu was unaware that he had been voted to the team, which was selected last offseason by readers of Seahawks.com. He wasn’t just voted to the team, only four players received more votes than the 3,539 generated by Tatupu – Hall of Fame wide receiver Steve Largent (5,004), the Hall-of-Fame-in-waiting duo of defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy (4,172) and left tackle Walter Jones (4,065) and defensive end Jacob Green (3,990).
The plan is to catch up with and profile the 29 players you selected to represent the best of the best from the team’s first 35 seasons.
First up: Tatupu, and the story of how he has parlayed uncanny instincts into unprecedented production.
