Tonight in Game 2 of the series we turn back the clock 70 years to 1939 and the old Pacific Coast League (the "third" Major League). The M's won last night in thrilling fashion and tonight the Rainiers look to do the same...
This will be the 7th Time the M's have worn throwbacks (or aheads):
1994: Chris Bosio wearing a Rainiers uni in the Kingdome picks up a win and Thunder Dan Wilson FINALLY hit's his first ML HR, this game also included the Oakland Oaks...This is the only time they've worn this version of the Rainiers uni...To me this one is THE CLASSIC it's the ones in all red and white with the red cap and the "Rainier Beer 'R'" as the logo...All the rest of the times we've worn Rainiers items they've featured the same uni as we will today...
Remember being in that Dome for that one...They turned off ALL the scoreboards and had a hand opperated scoreboard down the LF Line built above the wall....Was a real treat..
1995: Wearing Seattle Steelheads Western Negro League Unis the M's pull out a game on a Junior HR...
1997: The wearing Rainiers unis (same as today's) the M's won a game vs the Brewers (Braves) at County Stadium in Milwaukee in 1997 on the strength of Jr and Buhner both going deep twice and Gay-Roid parking one of his own.
1997: Turn AHEAD the Clock Night (to 2025), wearing God aweful silver uniforms Gay-Roid hits a HR in a Mariners win against the Kansas City Royals.
2004: Sexon hit's a HR and the M's win wearing the same Rainiers uni as today in a game at San Diego vs the PCL Version Padres.
2006: The wearing Seattle Pilots uniform Felix pitches a gem against the Detroit Tigers in vintage 1969 unis...
The M's are 6-0 All-Time when wearing a different jersey other than the one they wore that season....Let's keep that streak alive and clinch a series win!
