Good thing too because Everson Griffen re-signed with the Vikings and that would have only left Jared Allen as their possible contingency plan if Bennett would have walked. There's Michael Johnson too but Johnson is probably out of the Hawks' price range.
Next step: re-sign Tate.

Peppers would have been affordable , I liked the idea of Allen should we have lost Bennett

I agree with you. Allen might have even been an upgrade in the short term as far as pure sack numbers go. But him being the only one left the Hawks could have turned to had we lost Bennett and the situation would have been a bit dicey.
Did you see what Griffen re-signed for? Turns out he would have been more expensive than Bennett. The Vikings overpaid.

Tate came over to Coeur D Alene in the off season and I took the family to meet him , the wife wanted his jersey and I talked her out of it because of his pending FA , then he goes and wins the Super Bowl , lol . I hope he does re-sign so I can buy her that jersey and end all the complaining :)

Allen could still be a remote possibility if he's willing to come here for cheap. We still need a replacement for Big Red.

"I just love the organization and the things they're about," Bennett said. "I love the staff - from the equipment staff to the medical staff, it just goes on and on. Everybody here, they're good people. And I really enjoy that.

"I love the fans here, and that's one of the main reasons I came back. . These people, they just love the players and I appreciate that and how much they put into being one of the biggest reasons why we win games."

As one H of Famer said, when it's all over, you remember the number of trophies, not the salaries. If I had to choose between a SB winner and a perennial loser over 5-10 percent, I'd take the winner every time.
