DONE DEAL! FUCK YES! Great move by the all might Jack Z. He's only made one move I don't like, but considering what we gave up I'm actually pretty intrigued to see how it works out. I didn't realize Kotchman was only 28.

4 years, 20 some million for Guti! And Kotchman is 26. He was born Febuary 22md 1983.
Pretty much 28 which is good. Some people don't like the addition of Kotchman, but if you can get hits to score runs it's just as good as hitting homers. Maybe you don't get the excitement, but you can still win the game.

I don't care what you say. You NEED pop in the middle of the line up. You can't always bunch together hits. Every once in a while you need the big bopper in the line up to muscle one out and steal a game for you.

How is 26 pretty much 28?? 2 years is a pretty sugnificant difference if you ask me.

Yeah about a month away. Still the point is that Kotchman is younger than Branyan. Yes he does not have the power but hes a great defensive 1st baseman.

We already have great defence at every position except 2nd. Branyan was in the top 5 in UZR among 1st basemen last season and he provides the pop that we need. I'm not asking for 20+ homers from like 10 different people like the yankees had last year. Just one guy who can threaten 40.

Jose Lopez: 25
Franklin Gutierrez: 18
Ken Griffey Jr: 19 (Didn't play 45 games)

Lopez and Guti could get close to 30. Griffey could get close to 40 if he plays more games and has a good season.

Griffey will probably see less playing time this year. I doubt any of the players we have right now hit 30.

Pretty excited about the Guti extension.

The problem with having no power is that you have to string together 3 or 4 hits to score runs, and besides Ichiro, our team batting average sucked last year. When you are facing top line starters you need a guy who can completely change the game with one swing, and we just don't have that guy right now.

We added Figgins, Bradley and Kotchman. That will definitely upgrade the offensive hitting wise...or at least it should. If Jack Wilson does better we should be fine.

Yeah, but we lost Beltre, and Branyan. And Kotchman has a career batting average of .269 with gap power so I wouldn't be expecting all that much out of him offensively.

Beltre didn't do anything last season and Branyan did pretty good, but he could be one of those one hit wonders.

Who cares if Branyan was a one hit wonder or not. Either way we are losing his offensive production. Whether they hit home runs or a bunch of singles, Bradley and Kotchman will not match the offense Branyan gave us last year.

Exactly scott. We need a big time power threat. I'm not opposed to some kind of crazy platoon of Branyan and Kotchman at first Bradley and Branyan at DH and Bradley and Saunders in left.
